The Materials

As of now, these are the materials I use (besides the paper, which isn't posted here.)

I bought cheap acrylic paint, as well as the brushes from Wal Mart, to save on what little money I have. I also got the paper from Wal Mart, but don't like it too much. The material feels too much like plastic. Does all paper for painting feel like this? How come it doesn't feel much like a canvas? Is it suppose to be fake canvas?

The colors I have, are black, white, brown, purple, yellow, red, and blue. I knew I would atleast need black/white and the primary colors. I knew that I could mix these and produce different colors - however, when I first started trying to make shades darker, my colors would turn black... ...this is when I did some research and found a video on line, where someone recommended using purple instead of black to make colors darker...! (She also suggested putting in yellow to make different hues of red, because white just makes red appear pink).

I bought brown just because I'm not sure what colors would mix to make brown... ...so if I want to make the brown darker, do I use black... or red... or blue maybe? Hm.... ...I think it'd look pukey with purple mixed in, but I should try before I knock it.

I wasn't sure what brushes to buy either, so I bought the brushes that said they were for painting, lol. I was wondering what the difference between white brushes were, and brown brushes. I read online that brushes are good, just as long as they don't fall apart when you pull them. I tested this theory out - and have good brushes.

That's about it...!
